An illegal casino set up in a farmhouse in South Delhi’s posh Sainik Farms for Diwali was busted on Saturday night and 36 people, including businessmen, builders and share brokers, were arrested during the raid. Police said the minimum entry fee to the gambling ring was Rs 5 lakh and was limited only to friends or friends’ friends. Eleven luxury cars were seized from the premises during the raid where a roulette machine, gambling tables, casino tokens worth more than Rs 1.26 crore, playing cards and liquor bottles were also found. To avoid detection, the organisers kept changing their base and relied only on word of mouth. The group also avoided any form of web-based communication or messaging platforms.
