The 2,000 Guineas is one of the five English Classics. It takes place at Newmarket in early May and the race distance is one mile over a straight course. All the English Classics are confined to horse’s aged three and colts and fillies can run in the 2,000 Guineas. Gustav Klimt is the favourite but Masar is preferred.

Gustav Klimt has been all the rage in the betting and has powerful connections with a brilliant record in the race. The horse is trained by Aidan O’Brien who is the leading trainer with 7 wins. Clemmie is trained by Aidan O’Brien and he has won the 1,000 Guineas in the last two years and four times since 2005. Minding turned out to be his best filly but in recent years the best Coolmore juvenile filly has not won the race. However, Clemmie ticks most of the boxes and there could be improvement over one mile.

Laurens beat September in the Fillies’ Mile but the runner-up had bad luck in running. However, significantly the race was run over the Guineas course and distance at Newmarket. The straight mile at the track takes some knowing and horses with some
