ICE SHOW 2014 Totally Gaming at The ExCel
ICE SHOW 2014
Its that time of year again when all the manufacturers of gaming equipment are busily getting ready for the ICE show 2014, masses of time money and resources are used for probably the biggest Casino Gaming show in the world. The biggest exhibitor again is of course Novomatics from Austria. What can we expect this year at ICE 2014 ? anything different any new ideas and concepts or will it be the same just rehashed in a different guise. There hasn’t been anything really revolutionary since the launch of the electronic gaming terminals many a years ago. To be fair though to the producers they have to deal with very strict and limiting gaming laws within the UK which does nothing for creativity within the Casinos. The Casino industry is the most heavily regulated and controlled within the gambling circles. I am hoping that this year something pops out of the box which wows everyone. ICE SHOW 2014
This year to help you get around the Ice show they have developed an App (so there is a least one innovation this year) Quotes below taken from Icetotallygaming.com
New App developed for world’s biggest gaming event
Visitors, exhibitors and delegates attending ICE Totally Gaming and the co-located ICE Conferences will benefit from the launch of a new mobile event guide app, which has been developed specifically for what is the most complete business-to-business gaming event on the industry calendar.
The free app, which is going live in December, will allow visitors to view the full event schedule, browse the latest product launches and develop a personal event planner that will remind users of appointments, business meetings, conferences and seminar sessions. Produced by leading app developer Genie Connect, it will also feature a detailed interactive floor-plan that will help visitors navigate seamlessly around the 60,267sqm of floor space occupied by ICE, as well as keeping stakeholders fully up-to-date with the latest developments through a link to the #ICE2014 social media tag.
Heralding the launch of the app, ICE Marketing Director Jo Mayer said: “There’s more and more evidence to demonstrate that the visitors who plan their time at ICE get the most from what the exhibition has to offer. The event guide app is a dynamic, mobile window on the world’s biggest gaming exhibition and an essential information tool for visitors wanting to make appointments at show and generally keep connected with all of the latest developments both on and off the show floor.”
The ICE app will be available to download for free from the iTunes App Store and the Google Play Store in early December.
ICE SHOW 2014 What Could Be
There is technology already out there allowing you to transfer money from your mobile phone (apps) to other places, could this be used to make a “cashless Casino”. There have been Multiplay touchtables out there by TCS JohnHuxley (follow the link if you don’t know what the technology of a multiplay table is) which strangely have not been a complete success (I thought they were very good) Well any way imagine if there was an App that you could then link to the table to deposit your money and then actually place your bet onto the table from your phone. You could potentially have 30/40 players around that table all placing remote bets on the electronic layout from their mobile phone. The interaction and hype would be huge. Loyalty Cards (do you have a card for each gaming group) you could design an App for the mobile devices that interface with the machine so you sign in with your Social Profile, your points are credited onto your App and then you could redeem those points at a national online goods supplier for something you actually wanted (unless you do need lots of saucepans and another DVD player) . The connection could either be wifi or hard wired, just think of the possibilities once you have access to your players Social Profile. The players could tweet/facebook their wins of course with the location and brand attached which would magnify your influence/ impressions beyond your imagination. Just a few ideas, whats yours, what will be real for the future
Where will the innovation come from the large suppliers or the up and coming smaller players to the market ? Of course there was the Grosvenor New Games Showcase that may have already catapulted some to stardom already
Whilst we are talking about changes in the Gaming Law I know that all of the operators have put forward what they would like to see changed but after reading most of it I became a little confused of all the separate voices. If you could vote for one change on the slot machine allocation what would it be ?
- More Slot machines allowed on the Gaming floor
- How Many ?
- Bigger Prizes allowed on the Slot machines
- How Much

ICE SHOW 2014 Facilities
If you visited last year then you will be aware of the positives and negatives of the new location for the ICE SHOW, for me personally the exhibition space and onsite facilities were great, however after the show it is apparent that you are quite a way outside central London. The closest casino to the Excel London is Aspers Stratford and there is a quite a few restaurants and bars close by if you don’t feel like the hike into central london. I have added some links here so you dont have to trawl around to find out what’s on and where. Excel Restaurants Onsite and Offsite. Excel Hotels, Excel Bars and Pubs
