Casino Closes Its Doors Golden Nugget

The Golden Nugget

Closes its doors as of the 11th of February 2014. London Clubs International was rumored to be up for sale (lCI For Sale) but it never materialised and Ceasers entertainment played down its valuation by Goldman Sachs as just a regular stock valuation of its business.  Located on Shaftesbury Avenue it was once frequented by the many many business owners on the close by chinatown as their prefered place to relax and gamble it was a thriving casino.

It did become overshadowed over time firstly by London Clubs own Casino, The Empire and then the hugely successfully Hippodrome, perhaps it was only a matter of time that one of the casinos in the Leicester Square area was to close it doors

A sad day for the Casino Industry

Started working in the Casino Industry in 1985, just never managed to leave as yet. Visited 99% of all UK Casinos, seen them all,

I have fond memories of working at the Nugget, It was the Casino of choice for the Chinese back then , but I guess that whole area of downtown London has become very competitive over the last 10 yrs or so. It is still strange that it could not hold a share of the market though.

I worked there from 1985 until 1995.It was a busy and lively casino popular with many Chinese businessmen and tourists. It is a real shame it is now closed.
